ABOUT

With an extended amount of time free of our usual routines, we begin to notice the smallest of details around us that are otherwise overlooked. Exploring and cleaning the thin layer of dust on a shelf, watching as the shadow behind a plant changes throughout the day, waiting for a bird outside of our window to make a noise – we are searching for new ways to wander without leaving.

Note: After over a month of being in quarantine I’ve found a new appreciation for the seemingly mundane things that surround me. The way my plants rise and fall throughout the day, the sound of our front door dragging on the carpet as we open it, the birds that visit our new bird feeder, the incredible craftsmanship that goes into building a couch, and oddly enough – the convenience of the shape of a spaghetti spoon. With this exhibit I hope viewers take the time to see the artists hand and the story each work tells. Often these moments of appreciation and acknowledgement for the things around us don’t come immediately, but if you keep looking, they just might. – Rebecca Schnopp
